VisionaryArt is an independent art publication. Most of the photographs on this site are not ours: they are re-used from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences or because they are in the public domain. This page explains what that means if you want to use one of them.
How our images are licensed
Every re-used photograph carries its credit in the caption under the image, in the form author, licence, via Wikimedia Commons. The same information is published in the page’s structured data, so search engines and image tools can read the licence without a human in the loop. The licence named in the caption is the licence that governs the image: we cannot grant broader rights than the photographer did.
If you want to use one of these images
You do not need our permission. Go to the file on Wikimedia Commons, find it by the author and title given in our caption, and follow the licence terms there. For a CC BY or CC BY-SA licence that normally means naming the author, naming the licence and linking to it. Public-domain files carry no conditions, though a credit is still good practice.
Images made for VisionaryArt
Where a photograph, illustration or cover was made for this publication, the caption says so and no Commons credit appears. Those images stay with their author and are not covered by a Creative Commons licence. Write to us before re-using them.
