The Met Gala happened. Again. “Costume Art”. That was the actual theme. Anna Wintour somehow talked Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams into throwing a party where famous people pretend clothes are serious intellectual statements.
They aren’t.
You get exhausting amounts of fabric dragging up those museum steps. People smiling through the panic. The new Condé M. Nast Galleries are officially open now. The whole exhibition is supposed to prove that the dressed body is fundamentally high art. Maybe it is. Mostly it just looks like very expensive anxiety. You look at these outfits and you don’t think about art history. You think about how nobody can breathe or use a bathroom.
An absolute circus. We will all watch it again next year.
